The official launch

Playstack announced the date on July 8, 2026. Steam’s current listing also shows August 20, 2026, with Cold Symmetry as developer and Playstack as publisher.

This August 20, 2026 date applies to Mortal Shell II on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC through Steam.

Why some players started earlier

Pre-purchasing Devout offered up to 72 hours of access before general release. That explains references to an earlier start in launch coverage.

It was a launch-window benefit. Buying Devout after the general release does not recreate that earlier-access period.

Choose the right store

Use the PlayStation listing for PS5, the Xbox listing for Series X|S, or Steam for the Windows PC version. The physical Revered Edition is separately advertised for PS5.

Prices, languages and availability can vary by region. Confirm those details at the store associated with your account instead of relying on an old pre-order price.

Confirmed launch platforms

The confirmed digital launch platforms are PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows PC through Steam. All three use August 20, 2026 as the general release date.

The official PlayStation listing identifies the PS5 version as PS5 Pro Enhanced, with offline play for one player and DualSense vibration support. The official Xbox store separately confirms the Xbox release.

Devout Edition timing

The Devout Edition is the digital deluxe option associated with eight Obsidian Shell skins. Before launch, Playstack offered pre-purchasers up to 72 hours of access before the general release.

That early-access window was a pre-release benefit and is no longer a current reason to buy the edition after August 20, 2026. Evaluate the edition for its included content instead.

Revered Edition availability

The Revered Edition is a physical collector's edition for PS5 containing a physical artbook, steelcase, fine-art prints, and digital extras.

The official website says this edition is sold out in most territories. Physical stock can change independently by region, so confirm availability and package contents with the linked retailer rather than relying on an old marketplace result.

Release-date pitfalls

Do not confuse the publisher announcement date with the game launch. Playstack published its release announcement on July 8, 2026, but the worldwide digital release occurred on August 20, 2026.

Before purchasing, select one of the confirmed platforms, check the current storefront edition details, and remember that the Devout Edition's early-access offer is historical rather than an active launch benefit.
